QUALIFIED MANAGER

Mitchell W. Cox is the owner and Qualified Manager of COX INVESTIGATIONS, licensed through the California Department of Consumer Affairs, Bureau of Security and Investigative Services since 2004.  He is a former police officer, having retired from the California Highway Patrol.  Mitchell W. Cox is also a veteran of the United States Air Force.

Assignments while a State Traffic Officer with the California Highway Patrol include:

  • Special Duty Officer - Variety of office support functions including correspondence, research and community speaking.
  • Tow Officer - Managed the Rotation and Evidence Tow Programs, investigating complaints against tow companies.
  • VIN Officer - Verify the vehicle identification numbers (VIN) on vehicles and their components, including identifying and recovering stolen vehicles.
  • School Bus Officer - Testing of school bus drivers, both written and driving.  In 2004, assisted in CHP Souther Division with a major audit of the school bus driver records for the Southern California area due to reported fraud in issuing school bus drivers licenses in the Los Angeles area.  The audit resulted in numerous drivers being retested or disqualified.
  • Accident Investigation Officer - Reviewed traffic collision reports and investigations at the Area office.  Assisted other officers with reports and collision scenes.  Maintained statistics at Area level as well as for Headquarters in Sacramento, CA.
  • Evidence Officer - Maintained the evidence room, monitoring property and evidence, maintaining the chain of custody.  Coordinate with Crime Lab for testing or evaluation of evidence.
  • Patrol officer.
  • Retired in 2006.
